Stamp File Formats — PNG, SVG & PDF, and What Each Is For
PNG (transparent background, 6000px).
Drops straight into a Word doc, PDF, or image editor as a layer with no white box around it. The standard choice for stamping a digital PDF or inserting into a signature block.
SVG (vector paths, text converted to outlines).
Built for a print shop or a rubber/laser stamp manufacturer that needs a scalable vector file to cut a physical die. It's not meant for editing the text afterward — the letters are outline shapes, not live type. Note: if the design includes an aging texture, that texture stays a raster image embedded inside the SVG (a mixed file), so the whole file isn't infinitely scalable.
PDF (raster, true physical size).
A 6000px PNG placed on a PDF page sized to match the stamp's actual millimeter dimensions — ready to print at true size on a home or office printer. It is not an editable vector PDF.
How to Put Your Stamp on a PDF
Download your stamp as a transparent PNG and drop it onto any PDF — macOS Preview, Adobe Acrobat, or your browser's PDF editor all support placing an image over the page. Because the PNG has a transparent background, only the ink lands on the document, just like a real rubber stamp. If you plan to print, the paid PDF export ships at the stamp's true physical size (for example 38 mm), so what you print matches what you designed.
How to Insert a Stamp into a Word Document
A transparent PNG from this stamp maker works directly in Microsoft Word and Google Docs: Insert → Picture, then set the image's text wrapping to "In Front of Text" so you can position it over a signature line or approval box. The transparent background keeps the page text visible underneath. For repeated use, save your stamp once and reuse the same file across invoices, letters, and receipts.
Round, Square, and Rectangular Stamps
Switch the shape in the editor's Border & shape panel: round stamps suit company seals, notary layouts, and logo marks; rectangular stamps fit address blocks, date stamps, and received/paid marks; square stamps work well for compact grid-style seals. Every shape is sized in real millimeters, and the same free design tools — text rings, icon library, ink colors — apply to all three.
Rectangular stamp templates →Free Stamp Design — No Login, No Signup
The whole stamp generator runs in your browser with no account: pick a template, edit every element, and download a free 480px watermarked JPG to try the design in place. When the layout is right, a one-time payment ($2.50–$3.50) unlocks the watermark-free, high-resolution files — transparent PNG, outlined SVG, and print-ready PDF — delivered instantly and by email.
Company Seals and Corporate Stamps
The classic company seal layout puts the business name on the outer ring, a registration or license number on the bottom arc, and an emblem in the center — the same structure this company stamp generator ships as its default template. Round seals are the convention for incorporation documents and director approvals; add an inner ring for a two-line legal name, or switch to a rectangular corporate stamp for signature blocks. Sizes are set in real millimeters, so the seal you design matches the pre-inked stamp your office already uses.
Company seal templates →Notary and Official-Style Stamps
Notary stamps are regulated: US states differ on shape (some require circular seals, others rectangular), exact wording, and whether electronic notary seals are accepted for remote online notarization. Use the notary layouts here as a starting draft — commission number and expiry as clearly separated fields — then verify the final wording with your commissioning authority before ordering a physical stamp. Court, government-style, and justice layouts follow the same rule: decorative use is fine, but they are not substitutes for issued official seals.
Notary stamp templates →Date, Received, and Deposit Stamps
Office marks are mostly rectangular: a date stamp with a blank date line, a RECEIVED or PAID mark with space for initials, or a bank endorsement. A for-deposit-only stamp is a restrictive endorsement — in the US it instructs the bank to accept the check into a named account only, which is why the standard layout carries the bank name, account number line, and FOR DEPOSIT ONLY in capitals. All three patterns are in the template library with editable text lines and typewriter-style lettering.
Date stamp templates →From Digital File to a Physical Rubber Stamp
Stamp manufacturers cut plates from vector files: single color, no gradients, and every letter as an outline rather than a font reference. That is exactly what the paid SVG export produces — text converted to paths, sized to your stamp's true millimeter dimensions — so a rubber stamp maker or laser engraver can use it without asking you for font files. Common self-inking plates run around 38–42 mm for round seals; design at the size you plan to order and what arrives matches your preview.
Rubber stamp templates →Stamp Fonts and Lettering That Stay Legible
Curved text is where stamp lettering usually breaks down, so the font set here is chosen for arcs: Oswald, a condensed uppercase sans that stays readable bent around a ring; Archivo for wider, modern marks; PT Serif for formal seals; and Courier Prime for the typewriter look of date and received stamps. Letter spacing is adjustable per ring, and if a company name is too long for the arc, the editor shrinks the lettering to fit instead of silently cutting it off.
Text stamp templates →Digital Stamps vs. Electronic Signatures
A digital stamp is a visual mark — it shows a document was received, approved, or issued by an office, the way a physical rubber stamp does. An electronic signature is a legal act of identity, often backed by dedicated e-sign platforms and regulations such as ESIGN in the US or eIDAS in the EU. Many workflows use both: an e-signature to bind the agreement, a stamp graphic for the visual record. Whether a stamp image alone satisfies a formal requirement depends on your jurisdiction and document type, so check before relying on one.
Print Your Stamp at True Size
The paid PDF export is generated at the stamp's exact physical dimensions — a 38 mm seal becomes a 38 mm PDF page. To print it accurately, choose 100% scale ("Actual size") in the print dialog instead of "Fit to page", and the printed mark will match a ruler. This matters when you are proofing a design before ordering a physical stamp, or stamping pre-printed forms where the mark must fit a fixed box.
Built for Real Documents, Not Just Previews
Every paid export is rendered server-side at print resolution: a 6000-pixel transparent PNG, an outlined SVG, and a PDF at the stamp's true physical size. There is no account system — checkout runs through Stripe, files download immediately, and a copy goes to your email with a link that stays valid for seven days. The free tier is genuinely usable too: unlimited design edits and a watermarked 480px JPG to test your layout in a document before paying $2.50–$3.50 once.
See pricing →Frequently Asked Questions
What's free vs. what do I pay for?
Free: unlimited design edits and a 480px white-background JPG with a visible watermark, no signup required. Paid ($2.5–$3.5 depending on the format bundle): a full-resolution, watermark-free export in PNG, SVG, and/or PDF.
Does the free download have a watermark?
Yes. The free JPG is capped at 480px and carries a watermark — it's meant for checking your layout, not for stamping real documents.
Which format should I buy?
PNG if you just need to stamp a digital file; add SVG if you're sending the design to a stamp maker or print shop to produce a physical stamp; add PDF if you want a ready-to-print sheet at true size.
Do I need to create an account?
No. StampZen has no login — design, pay, and download by email link only.
What if I paid for the wrong format, or the file won't open?
Contact support with your order email or Stripe receipt and we'll resend the correct file or refund the order.
Can I use a StampZen design commercially?
Yes — once purchased, the exported file is yours to use on your own products, documents, or client work. It isn't a substitute for any legally required official seal (notary, court, government) where local rules govern that seal's exact wording or registration.
Can I download a stamp without a watermark?
Yes — every paid download is watermark-free. The free 480px JPG carries a visible watermark so you can test the design in place; the one-time purchase ($2.50–$3.50) unlocks the clean high-resolution PNG, SVG, and PDF files.
What size should my stamp be?
The editor defaults to 38 mm, the most common round self-inking plate size; round and square stamps can be set from 20 to 60 mm and rectangular stamps up to 90 mm wide. If you plan to order a physical stamp, design at the plate size you intend to buy.
Can I re-download my files later?
Yes. After payment you get an instant download plus an email link that stays valid for seven days, and you can re-download as many times as you need in that window. Lost the email? Contact support with your receipt and we'll resend it.
Does the stamp maker work on a phone?
Yes — the editor runs entirely in the browser, and the layout adapts to mobile: preview on top, controls below. There is nothing to install and no account to create.
Is a digital stamp legally valid?
It depends on the document and jurisdiction. As a visual mark on invoices, internal approvals, and correspondence, digital stamps are widely used. For notarization, government filings, or anywhere a statute specifies a seal, the issuing authority's rules decide — some accept electronic seals, others require a physical stamp. When in doubt, ask the receiving office.
